• WALKS FROM THE VILLAGE
There are lots of beautiful walks in and around the village and the surrounding area. Guides and maps are provided at the house for you to use during your stay. There is also a local bus service running through the village if you find you are over ambitious with your route!
• LOCAL TOWNS TO EXPLORE
The interesting town of Totnes is just 4 miles away, with lots of independent shops and fantastic market on Fridays and Saturdays. Dartmouth and Brixham are within easy reach and Salcombe, Plymouth and Exeter are less than an hours drive. Hector’s Corner is a perfect base to explore the English Riviera, enjoy family days out to the beach or hikes on Dartmoor.
With lots to do in the vicinity it is the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday at any age or time of year. Below are a selection of recommended activities and places to visit what ever the weather or interests. Booking early is advisable.

Totnes Kayaks - Kayaks, canoe and paddle board hire in Stoke Gabriel. A great way to explore the magic of the River, paddling either to Dittisham, Tuckenhay or Sharpham depending on the tide.

Canoe Adventures - Guided Canoe adventures from Stoke Gabriel
Sandridge Barton Vineyard - Home to the award-winning 'Sharpham Wine' & 'Sharpham Dairy’, well worth a visit for wine and cheese-tasting, vineyard tours and lunch at the fantastic Cellar-Door cafe. Sandridge Barton is situated just outside Stoke Gabriel, perfectly located for strolling back to Hector’s Corner after a spot of wine-tasting!
Totnes Cinema - “The coolest little cinema in the world’! A fantastic venue restored to its former glory - Interesting films combined with fantastic coffee in the day through to cocktails in the evening with chess and jazz bands thrown in along the way! A real experience!

Dartington Trust - A centre for the arts, learning and ecology set within the beautiful Dartington Estate. Interesting events, gardens, walks, shop and cafe.

South Devon Railway - Steam railway running between Totnes, Staverton and Buckfastleigh.

Dartmouth Steam Railway & Riverboats - The Dartmouth Steam Railway and paddle steamer explores Dartmouth, Kingswear, Torquay, Paignton and Totnes along the river Dart.

Greenway (National Trust) - the former home of Agatha Christie which she described as ‘the loveliest place in the world’ is just across the river from Stoke Gabriel.

Coleton Fishacre (National Trust) - a stylish 1920s country retreat, complete with luxuriant garden by the sea.

English Heritage Castles - Two interesting English Heritage Castles to visit - Totnes and Berry Pomeroy - supposedly the most haunted in England!

The Box - a new major museum, art gallery and archive for Plymouth and the South West.

Paignton Zoo - a great family day out, rain or shine with over 2500 animals across 80 acres with focus on breading of rare species. Also the setting of the CBBC ‘The Zoo’ programme.

Totnes Rare Breeds Farm - a small family run attraction set in beautiful surroundings besides the South Devon Steam Railway.

Splashdown - a fantastic waterpark (if you like that sort of thing!) in Paignton.

Go Ape High Wires in Haldon Forest - sure to get the adrenaline pumping. Swing from the trees with the stunning backdrop of Dartmoor!

Dart Rock Climbing Centre - Buckfastleigh. The South West’s leading climbing centre.
